§ 14-5. Nonpartisan elections; procedures.

  • (a)

    All regular and special elections for the offices of mayor and council for the town shall be nonpartisan elections using the nonpartisan plurality method pursuant to S.C. Code 1976, § 5-15-61.

    (b)

    Candidates' names shall be placed on the election ballot by filing a statement of candidacy with the town at its offices in the town hall, during the normal working hours of such office. Filing dates for town offices and the date by which candidates must be certified to the appropriate authority to be placed on the ballot, shall run concurrently with the filing dates set by law for countywide and less than countywide offices or other filing dates as may be mutually agreed upon between the town and the Greenwood County election commission.

    (c)

    No political party affiliation shall be placed on any ballot for any candidate.
