§ 22-3. Statutory authorization.

(a)

Town. The legislature of the state has in S.C. Code 1976, titles 5 and 6, and amendments thereto, delegated the responsibility to local governmental units to adopt regulations designed to promote the public health, safety, and general welfare of its citizenry. Therefore, the town council does ordain the regulations as set forth in this chapter.

(b)

County. The legislature of the state has in S.C. Code 1976, title 4, chapters 9 (article 1), 25, and 27 (S.C. Code 1976, §§ 4-9-10—4-9-195, 4-25-10 et seq., 4-27-10 et seq.), and amendments thereto, delegated the responsibility to local governmental units to adopt regulations designed to promote the public health, safety, and general welfare of its citizenry. Therefore, the town does ordain the regulations as set forth in this chapter.
