§ 2-25. Hold over by mayor and council.

  • (a)

    Newly elected officers shall not qualify until at least 48 hours after the closing of the polls, and in case a contest is filed, the incumbents shall hold over until the contest is finally determined.

    (b)

    In the event any election goes by default from failure to give the notice required or otherwise, the mayor and councilmembers in office shall continue to serve until an election is held as provided by this chapter, and their successors are duly elected and qualified.
